Gjeloshaj: Strengthening the regional market brings more room for investment, development and new jobs

Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development, Nik Gjeloshaj, has stressed the importance of concrete forms of regional cooperation, especially in the development of industrial parks and business zones, attracting investments and creating new opportunities for business.

Gjeloshaj took part in the “Economic Conference Montenegro 2026”, organized by the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro, where he spoke on the panel “One Region. One Market. One Reform Agenda”.

Gjeloshaj stressed that the Berlin Process has made an important contribution to creating a more interconnected economic space in the Western Balkans and that it is important to continue with concrete initiatives that further strengthen regional economic cooperation and link the economies of the region’s countries.

“We have concrete results on which we must continue to build and further improve conditions for business development, so that companies can even more easily use the opportunities offered by the regional market. For Montenegro, the next step is a better connection of our potentials in tourism and services with suppliers, workforce and investments from across the CEFTA region. Our ambition to become a member of the European Union in 2028 is an additional reason to accelerate this process and to prepare enterprises for the opportunities, but also the adjustments, that membership will bring”, Gjeloshaj said.

At the conclusion of the conference, the minister addressed the participants on the occasion of the “WB6 Industrial Parks Partnership Signing Ceremony”, during which representatives of seven industrial parks and business zones from the region signed memoranda of cooperation with partners from the European Union.

On this occasion, Gjeloshaj stressed the importance of concrete forms of regional cooperation, especially when it comes to the development of industrial parks and business zones, attracting investments and creating new business opportunities.

“Today’s ceremony is a good example of the concrete cooperation that is realized precisely where investment happens, business develops and new jobs are created. Industrial parks and business zones have different potentials and are at different levels of development. What unites them is the possibility to create better conditions for the development of industry and new investments, and with that, better opportunities for the people who work in them”, Gjeloshaj said.
