Gonxhja: objects of the “Mill Room” in Ardenicë now in the cultural heritage inventory
On the National Cultural Heritage Day, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, announced that the National Institute of Cultural Heritage has for the first time registered and catalogued the objects preserved in the “Mill Room” of the Ardenicë Monastery.
These objects will now be part of the cultural heritage inventory fund. They include capitals, stelae, milestone stones and other evidence from various periods and territories, carrying fragments of our history. IKTK specialists, through documentation and study, continue working to recognize, protect and pass these assets on to future generations.
The Ardenicë Monastery lies at the center of a hilly range dividing the Myzeqe plain.
Gonxhja shared images of a series of ancient objects datable to various periods and coming from different areas around the monastery, such as the archaeological sites of Apollonia, Kolkondas and others. Some of these ancient objects may even date back to the 2nd century BC.
