Gruda in the Assembly: The draft law aims to limit the Special Court’s jurisdiction
PDK MP Përparim Gruda presented in the Assembly his party’s reasoning for amending the Law on the Specialist Chambers, saying that the initiative aims to limit a part of the jurisdiction of the Special Court.
Gruda, who is one of the proposers of the draft law, said that the establishment of the Specialist Chambers was linked to claims of organ trafficking.
According to him, the court proceedings held in The Hague have not proved that there was organ trafficking.
He stressed that the proposed changes do not remove the Special Court’s right to continue its work, but aim to limit a part of its jurisdiction, including matters linked to war crimes.
Gruda argued that the jurisdiction originally defined for the Specialist Chambers was not envisaged to include cases which, according to him, have no connection with the claims on which this court was founded, as Telegrafi reports.
