Haradinaj calls for unity: The internationals have betrayed us, give us back our trust
Nasim Haradinaj, former deputy chairman of the KLA War Veterans’ Organization, has called for unity among the deputies of Kosovo’s Assembly, while criticizing the internationals for the way in which, in his view, cases related to the KLA war have been handled.
Haradinaj addressed protesters in Pristina’s square, where he demanded justice and the uncovering of crimes committed during the war.
Addressing the deputies of Kosovo’s Assembly, he asked them to unite and take responsibility.
“You 100 deputies who are there, all 100 of you, each with his own responsibility and with the weight he himself asked to bear, whether of the vote or of the promises, we call on you for unity! Unity! Unity!” Haradinaj said.
He also had a message for the international community, saying that trust in them had been built on the support that, in his view, had been given to the KLA’s war.
“Internationals, whom we trusted because we had convinced them to help us in the KLA’s war and to win together. They left without casualties because they had us here. They took the glory, we took the freedom. But now we tell you: You have betrayed us, give us back our trust!” he declared.
Haradinaj said the protesters’ demand is for justice and the uncovering of crimes, opposing what he called the misuse of the cases.
“We demand only justice! Justice and the uncovering of crimes, absolutely, because many times they try to misuse it. Kosovo has built institutions, it has people who professionally can deliver justice,” Haradinaj said.
He also criticized the handling of cases related to war victims, saying he does not accept that massacres and civilian victims be treated as individual cases.
“Internationals, you cannot deceive us that these are individual cases. We do not accept the insult to the 400 executed in massacres, we do not accept the insult to our children, we do not accept the insult to our blood!” he said.
At the end of his speech, he called for unity around the KLA and addressed the former KLA members who are in The Hague.
“Long live the KLA! From today on, everyone KLA! Glory, and I greet our comrades there in The Hague! Nasim says: you are in The Hague and these are here — either we will bring you here, or we will come there! Long live the KLA,” Haradinaj concluded, according to Telegrafi.
