He set out with a Kalashnikov to kill a 35-year-old: young man arrested in Rrogozhinë; a woman also under investigation

Police arrested a 26-year-old from Peqin red-handed today, September 13, after he threatened to kill a 35-year-old from Tirana with a Kalashnikov.

The incident took place in Rrogozhinë. The operation codenamed “Prevent 2” prevented the escalation of the conflict, which was driven by petty motives, in the early hours of the morning.

A 21-year-old who was in the same apartment was also handcuffed, for failing to report the crime to the competent authorities. The armed confrontation occurred at the home of a 36-year-old woman, where the man threatened with the weapon was headed.

During the search, police officers found and seized the firearm along with combat ammunition as material evidence. The case file was handed over to the Durrës Prosecutor’s Office.

Rrogozhinë: “Prevent 2” police operation finalized; escalation of a life-threatening conflict prevented

The 26-year-old is handcuffed and the Kalashnikov firearm with which he threatened to kill a 35-year-old is seized.

Officers of the Kavajë Police Commissariat, in cooperation with the Rrogozhinë Police Station, successfully finalized the police operation codenamed “Prevent 2”.

As part of this operation, the following citizens were arrested red-handed:

A. I., 26, resident of Peqin, for the criminal offenses of “Unlicensed possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition” and “Threats”;

O. T., 21, resident of Peqin, for the criminal offense of “Failure to report a crime”.

At around 1:00 a.m. on 13 September 2026, police received information that a citizen was threatening a 35-year-old with a firearm, over petty motives.

Immediately after receiving the information, officers organized the operation, locating the apartment where citizens A. I. and O. T. were.

During the search of the apartment where these citizens were located, a Kalashnikov-type firearm and combat ammunition were found and seized as material evidence.

Citizen A. I., over petty motives, had threatened to kill citizen A. S., 35, from Tirana, who was on his way to the apartment of a 36-year-old woman, where the two citizens A. I. and O. T. were.

Following procedural actions, after consultation with the Prosecutor, criminal proceedings were initiated — with the suspect at liberty — for the criminal offense of “Failure to report a crime” against the 36-year-old woman, a resident of Rrogozhinë, who was not in the apartment when the conflict between the two citizens occurred.

The seized firearm and ammunition will undergo further forensic examination.

The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Durrës Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction, for further action against the aforementioned citizens.
