Tried to kill his father, Albanian in Italy sentenced to 8 years in prison
A 37-year-old Albanian in Italy has been sentenced in an abbreviated trial to 8 years, 10 months and 20 days in prison after he tried to kill his father last November, in an incident that took place in Genoa.
Just a week after the incident, he ended up in handcuffs.
At the moment of the attack, the 37-year-old stabbed his father in the abdomen and tried to do it again, but the victim managed to escape and later ended up in hospital, in a serious condition.
After that, the perpetrator had locked himself in the house and, knife in hand, was threatening his brother via a video call.
The attempted murder had been preceded by numerous episodes of violence against family members and, according to the prosecutor, they were a consequence of cocaine addiction. When the security measure was set, the 37-year-old denied that he had wanted to stab his father and apologized, but that was not enough to mitigate the circumstances.
In his family, he is the only one who has not obtained Italian citizenship and, after serving his sentence, he will be deported from the country, as ANSA reports.
