He Was Transporting 4 Gold Bars and Large Sums of Cash in a “Porsche” — 30-Year-Old Arrested in Roskovec!

A 30-year-old was arrested in Roskovec, Fier, as part of Operation “Gold”, after police found 9 coins and 4 gold bars in his vehicle, as well as thousands of euros and lek, for which he had no documentation of origin.

A search of his apartment also turned up a suspected forged driving licence.

Police announcement:

“Transporting in a ‘Porsche Cayenne’ 13 gold bars and coins, suspected of being smuggled, the 30-year-old is arrested.

During further checks, 4,000 euros and 93,000 lek were also found in the vehicle, while a false driving licence was found in his apartment.

The items and the vehicle are seized.

In implementation of the special plan of measures to carry out checks on luxury vehicles, in order to verify the source of the money with which they were purchased, the specialists for the Investigation of Economic Crimes, in cooperation with the Operational forces and “Shqiponja” services, stopped for verification a “Porsche Cayenne” vehicle, driven by citizen A. B., 30 years old, resident in Roskovec.

During the check of the vehicle, carried out following the coded operation “Gold”, 9 gold coins, 4 gold bars, 4,000 euros and 93,000 lek were found. The 30-year-old had no documentation for the origin/source of the valuables or the money.

Further, a check was carried out in his apartment, where a suspected forged driving licence was found.

At the conclusion of the first investigative and procedural actions, the 30-year-old was arrested for the criminal offences “Cleaning of the products of a criminal offence or criminal activity”, “Trading and transporting goods that are contraband” and “Forgery of identity cards, passports or visas”.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecution, for further actions, as well as for the initiation of the asset investigation, in order to document the source of the valuables and money found on the 30-year-old.”
