High-profile cases return to the Special Court: hearings for Berisha and Meta today

The high-profile trials of politicians charged by SPAK resume today at the Special Court.

At 10:00 the next hearing of the “Partizani” case is scheduled, where former prime minister, Sali Berisha, is tried for suspected “corruption” committed during the privatization process of the former “Partizani” sports complex. The case is in the phase of questioning the witnesses requested by SPAK.

While at 13:00 the former President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, awaits the next confrontation with the Special Court, in the case where together with his ex-wife, Monika Kryemadhi, he is tried for “corruption”, “money laundering” and “concealment and non-declaration of assets”.

Also today, at 15:45, the GJKKO also examines a request by Meta for release from pre-trial detention. Meta seeks the replacement of the “prison arrest” measure under which he has been held since October 2024.
