Israeli airstrike on an apartment building in Gaza City kills 5 Palestinians

Five Palestinians were killed overnight in an Israeli airstrike on an apartment building in Gaza City, Al Jazeera reports on 3 October 2026.

Reuters agency photographs from the scene show Palestinians inspecting the rubble of the struck building, among them a woman looking at the damage caused by the attack and children passing by the damaged building.

The attack comes as part of the ongoing escalation of fighting in the Gaza Strip, which is taking place in parallel with the broader U.S.–Iran war in the region. According to reports, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have intensified in recent weeks, with targets that also include residential buildings.

No immediate comment has been given by the Israeli military on this particular attack. International organizations have repeatedly warned about the humanitarian cost of the air campaign in one of the most densely populated areas in the world.
