Hoxha receives the new U.S. ambassador: Strengthening the strategic partnership and expanding economic cooperation
The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, has held a first meeting with the new ambassador of the United States to Albania, Eric Wendt, emphasizing the further strengthening of the strategic relations between the two countries.
In a post on the social network X, Hoxha described the meeting as a particular pleasure and underlined the importance of the Albanian-American partnership, supported, in his view, by shared democratic values, cooperation within NATO and the historic ties between the two peoples.
“I look forward to working closely together to deepen our bilateral relations further,” Hoxha wrote, singling out the expansion of economic and investment opportunities as one of the areas where cooperation is expected to intensify.
The talks are also expected to focus on cooperation for security and stability in the region, as well as coordination in facing global challenges.
Hoxha also stressed that Albania’s membership in the European Union remains the top national priority, while describing the transatlantic partnership as an important component of this approach.
“For Albania, membership in the European Union, as our top national priority, and a strong and enduring transatlantic partnership are two sides of the same coin,” the minister said.
In conclusion, Hoxha wished Ambassador Wendt success in his mission in Albania and expressed the expectation of a close, productive and lasting cooperation between the two countries.
