Hysaj: my contribution is also off the pitch, new arrivals are missing in defence
The eve of the match between Finland and Albania, valid for Group 1 of League C of the Nations League, was the main topic addressed at the red-and-black national team’s usual press conference. Facing the journalists, alongside coach Maran, appeared Elseid Hysaj, who stated that his presence in this gathering was not exclusively about the pitch.
“I am one of the most experienced players in the group and as such I try to talk as much as possible with the young players,” said the Shkodra-born defender.
Hysaj was also asked how he sees the future of the red-and-black national team. “I think the department where we need new players the most is the defence, because in midfield and attack we have many alternatives,” the 32-year-old analysed.
Another topic in this “encounter” with the journalists was the player’s future at club level. Hysaj admitted that he is currently in talks with several clubs and that the national team matches had come at the right moment, as by training and playing with Albania he has managed to get into his optimal form.
As for Albania’s objectives in the Nations League, Hysaj said that both Finland and Belarus are teams with a high level of football and that the objective set for the red-and-blacks in this tournament is not very easy to achieve.
