Iljazaj: The publication of intimate images is a threat to everyone’s privacy
Analyst Elvis Iljazaj, during a discussion on “Now”, raised concern over the public release of intimate images of the well-known composer Adrian Hila, describing this phenomenon as a serious threat to the whole of society and a direct violation of privacy.
According to Iljazaj, public concern should focus on the violation of privacy and the release of intimate images, and not on individuals’ personal lives or private relationships.
“So here we should be scandalised not by those sexual relationships, as the world was scandalised. We should be scandalised why they came out in public. Why? Because that is a massive threat to everyone. With the technological development that is happening it is a threat to everyone. What do I care who has sex with whom? I don’t care at all.”
Iljazaj called for such cases to serve as a turning point for legal discussions, with the aim of toughening penalties for privacy violations. He raised the alarm that the development of technology and artificial intelligence is making these threats even more massive.
“This is also happening in Albania, artificial intelligence is coming here. Let us take this case to serve us as a social discussion in the sense of how to solve it, how to protect privacy and not how to put privacy on the market. That is the idea. But unfortunately the opposite happens.
So let us leave them in their privacy because they have enough troubles now with their family members, with their children and I don’t know what. Let us not deal with comments any more, let us deal with how to protect people from such publications and how to protect everyone’s privacy. This case should serve us to discuss laws, packages on how to protect. We still have no legal discipline for artificial intelligence, we have not even defined it yet,” Iljazaj said.
According to the analyst, such cases are orchestrated and create insecurity among all citizens, also bringing harmful reactions or gossip.
“The other reason, I have the impression it is an orchestrated thing. In the end this thing is a threat to everyone. Everyone or most of us may have entered somewhere, may have gone out somewhere, may have done something somewhere, may have met someone, and this has also created a climate of fear. So we should take this story seriously,” Elvis Iljazaj concluded.
