International Cultural Weeks: Pag brings Croatian traditions and heritage to Tirana
The colours, rhythms and traditions of the Croatian town of Pag arrived today in the heart of Tirana, bringing the Albanian public part of the rich cultural heritage of the Croatian island.
In “Skanderbeg” Square, the artists from Pag staged a festive performance with traditional music and dances, accompanied by folk costumes, and then continued with a march towards “Mother Teresa” Square.
The activities take place within the framework of the International Cultural Weeks and aim to create a new bridge of cultural exchange between Albania and Croatia, through music, folklore, crafts and gastronomy.
A delegation of about 25 artists will present in Tirana the centuries-old traditions of the town through the Družina Folklore Association, the Galijota klapa group and the artisan women of Pag lace.
The activity began with a march from Hotel Mak Albania towards “Skanderbeg” Square, where a 15-minute flash mob was held, bringing the rhythms and energy of Pag to the heart of Tirana. The evening culminated at the University of Arts with the presentation of the town of Pag and the concert “From Croatia with Love”, where the public had the chance to get to know up close the music, dances, costumes, customs and authentic products of this town.
Through this activity, Pag presents itself not only as a destination with special tourist values, but also as a town that preserves and passes down its cultural and artisanal traditions from generation to generation.
The concert began on Tuesday evening at the University of Arts in Tirana and admission was free.
