Iran executes Siavash Jamshidi, accused of weapons possession and shooting at police during the December protests
Iranian authorities have executed a man accused of storing weapons and shooting at police officers with military weapons during the December protests, according to the semi-official Tasnim agency, cited by Al Jazeera.
The agency identified the executed man as Siavash Jamshidi, from Shahrekord, the capital of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province in central Iran.
The execution comes at a time of internal tensions in Iran, where the December protests were forcibly suppressed by the authorities.
Tehran has executed several people in recent months on charges related to the protests and national security, according to Iranian media reports.
