Iran reaches maximum production at Phase 11 of the South Pars gas field: 1 billion cubic feet a day
Iran has completed the development of Phase 11 of the South Pars gas field, reaching a production capacity of 1 billion cubic feet (28.3 million cubic metres) a day, according to the Iranian Mehr agency, cited by Al Jazeera.
According to Mehr, the project was carried out with domestic engineering expertise after foreign partners left, including the French company Total and China’s CNPC, after years of delays.
Iranian officials said this step will help ease domestic energy imbalances and secure gas supplies for the winter, the agency added.
South Pars is the largest gas field in the world, shared between Iran and Qatar, and forms the main pillar of Iranian energy production.
