Iran summons the British ambassador over ‘false accusations’ regarding the plot at RAF Fairford base
Iran has summoned the British ambassador in Tehran to convey the Islamic Republic’s strong official protest against what Tehran calls London’s ‘false accusations’ of a sabotage plot at the RAF Fairford air base in south-west England, as Al Jazeera reports in its latest live blog on the war in Iran.

According to Al Jazeera’s reporting, Majid Takht-Ravanchi, the political deputy of Iran’s Foreign Ministry, summoned the British ambassador and rejected the British government’s claim that the suspected plot near the British military base, which is also used by the United States, was linked to Iran. Iranian state media quoted the senior official calling the accusation baseless.
The episode comes just days after the five suspects in the plot were released — about whom U.S. President Donald Trump said ‘more details will come soon’ — while U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio hinted that a ‘foreign actor’ was behind it, also mentioning Iran’s earlier threats. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had earlier rejected London’s accusations, saying the British were ‘barking up the wrong tree’.
The summoning of the ambassador marks the latest diplomatic escalation surrounding the incident, at a time when tensions between Iran and the West remain high, with the U.S.–Iran war entering its eighth month and diplomacy continuing to move through intermediaries in Qatar.
