IRGC addresses the American people directly, calls Trump a “big liar”

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has addressed the American people directly with a long letter and a press conference in Tehran, calling U.S. President Donald Trump a “big liar,” as Al Jazeera reports.

“The American people must be told the truth,” said IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebbi, adding that the United States failed in its attack on Iran. The letter, which according to Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Tehran, Mohamed Vall, runs to dozens of pages, is a direct attempt to speak to the American public about what the IRGC describes as the “crimes” committed by the U.S. against Iran and other countries in the region.

Brigadier General Mohebbi said the U.S. war on Iran has nothing to do with the country’s nuclear program. “Their issue is the looting of the Iranian people and the wealth of the Iranian people. Their issue is the dismemberment of Iran,” he declared.

In his address, the IRGC spokesman claimed that Iran has never sought to acquire nuclear weapons and called on American citizens to ask their government why the Revolutionary Guard has been designated a “terrorist” organization — according to him, precisely because it prevents “looting” in Iran and the region. He questioned whether it is time for the American leadership to change its foreign policy and argued that it is time for the United States to leave the Middle East.
