IRGC: The U.S. Lacks the Courage to Admit Defeat in the War
Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) spokesman Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi said on Monday that the United States has been defeated in this war but lacks the courage to admit and acknowledge this defeat.
“The United States has been defeated in this war, and their defeat is also a historic and humiliating defeat, but they lack the courage to admit and acknowledge this defeat,” Mohebbi said in comments published by Iranian domestic media.
As evidence of this defeat, he cited Washington’s failure to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran closed in response to the joint U.S.–Israel war. According to Mohebbi, the U.S. put all its capacities on the line but “could not” reopen the strategic waterway.
Mohebbi added that U.S. bases across the region turned into a burden for Washington itself: the investment made to provide security “turned into the opposite of security” when the bases came under Iranian attacks. According to him, Iranian missiles struck U.S. intelligence centers around the Gulf and in northern Iraq, proving those facilities were not out of reach — which he called “a great intelligence defeat” for the U.S.
The statements come as Iran’s central military command warned on Sunday that it has received information the U.S., with support from regional partners, may be preparing a new round of strikes, and as President Donald Trump says he is in “decision mode” on Iran.
