Israel kills Hamas commander, 6 killed in airstrikes in Gaza
Six people, including a Hamas commander, were killed in Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, according to the Civil Defence service of the Palestinian enclave.
The same source reported that two people were killed in an Israeli strike in western Gaza City. Hamas later said one of them was Ezzedine al-Beik, a member of the general military council of the Al-Qassam Brigades, the movement’s armed wing, and a commander in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. The information was also confirmed by the Israeli military.
The Al-Qassam Brigades stated that Beik was among the commanders in the operations centre during the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel, which triggered the war in Gaza.
The Civil Defence service in Gaza also reported three people killed and several wounded by Israeli drone strikes in Jabalia, in the north of the enclave. Another person was killed by Israeli fire in Deir al-Balah, in the central part of the Gaza Strip.
According to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military operations since October 10, 2025, when a fragile ceasefire took effect in the Palestinian enclave.
During the same period, the Israeli armed forces have reported six fatalities in Gaza: five soldiers and a Defence Ministry contractor.
