Janevska to students at the first academic hour: Be curious and bold in the pursuit of knowledge

The new 2026/2027 academic year began today for around 53,500 students in North Macedonia, as Nova Makedonija reports. The first academic hour was held at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (UKIM), where the new students began their university journey.

The Minister of Education and Science, Vesna Janevska, addressed the students at the first academic hour with an encouraging message: “Be curious and bold students in the pursuit of new knowledge,” according to Nova Makedonija’s reporting.

In her speech, Janevska also announced good news about students’ living conditions: two student dormitories in Skopje have been fully reconstructed, while the “Kuzman Josifovski-Pitu” dormitory will open soon. According to Nova Makedonija, the opening of this dormitory will be followed by the reconstruction of other student dormitories in the country, as part of the improvement of education infrastructure.
