Journalist Vudi Xhymshiti’s parents’ house burns in Gjilan; police investigate suspected arson

Journalist Vudi Xhymshiti announced via a social media post that his parents’ house in Gjilan has been engulfed by fire.

The Sinjali newspaper contacted the Kosovo Police for more details on the case. Police confirmed that on September 26, at around 15:45, the Gjilan Police Station received information about a fire in a house in the village of Livoç i Ulët.

According to police, the fire caused material damage in the basement of the house, where a car, work tools and some household furniture were located. “The house in question is uninhabited and the exact time the fire occurred is unknown,” the police statement said.

The relevant police units arrived at the scene, including investigators and regional forensic experts, as well as a fire expert. At this stage, the cause of the fire has not been determined.

After consultation with the State Prosecutor, the case has been opened for investigation toward the criminal offense of “Arson”. Investigations continue to determine the cause and fully clarify the circumstances, as Sinjali reports.
