Jovanović: Postponement of von der Leyen’s visit less important than the ‘redefinition’ of Serbia–EU relations: cooperation yes, membership no
Miloš Jovanović, the top candidate of the “Autentična desnica” (Authentic Right, number 8 on the ballot — candidates of Novi DSS and the Monarchists), said today that Serbia needs a “redefinition of relations” with the European Union.
Commenting on the postponement of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s visit to Serbia, Jovanović said the most important thing is not the date of the visit, but changing the relationship itself: cooperation yes, but no path toward EU membership.
“The EU demands that we give up Kosovo and Metohija, impose sanctions on Russia, and, since the death of Ratko Mladić, accept the lie that a genocide was committed in Srebrenica,” Jovanović said.
“That is why the Authentic Right, unlike everyone else, says clearly: cooperation with the EU — Yes!, membership — No!,” he added, calling on citizens to support this policy in the October 25 elections.
According to him, Serbia needs both a change of government and a change of policy.
