Klopp ‘delighted’ by the Manchester City sanction — Liverpool could win two Premier League titles from the ruling

Someone’s misfortune can be a celebration for someone else.

Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp once declared that he would celebrate on an open-top bus parade through the city if Manchester City were found guilty of the charges brought against them.

He was not wrong.

The sanction handed down to the former English champions means they could lose two league titles — and those trophies could go to Liverpool.

UEFA has precedent for such decisions.

This would mean the Reds would have two more titles, Klopp included, while the financial gain would be huge.

As English media report, the Anfield club would seek £100 million in compensation, which it claims to have lost because City violated the rules.

Other clubs, such as Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham, would also seek compensation.

The possible sanctions have not yet been determined, but at this stage no option can be ruled out.

The “Citizens” risk everything — from relegation, a significant points deduction or a fine, to possible expulsion from the Premier League.

What is certain is that, in any case, the club will appeal the decision.
