Kosovo public health institute: 180 measles cases confirmed since April, over 95 percent among the unvaccinated
Kosovo’s National Institute of Public Health has announced that 180 measles cases were confirmed in Kosovo between April 16 and September 27, 2026.
According to the institute’s data, eight new cases were registered in the past week alone.
The institute stressed that more than 95 percent of confirmed measles cases involve people unvaccinated with the MMR vaccine.
Because of the measles situation, IKShPK has intensified, alongside regular vaccination under the national calendar, catch-up vaccination for children who for various reasons were not vaccinated on time.
According to the institute, over 3,176 children aged 2–5 have been vaccinated this year under the catch-up campaign.
IKShPK praised the contribution of parents, health professionals, and institutions in raising vaccination rates.
“Vaccination is the best protection — together we protect children’s health,” the institute’s statement said, as reported by Telegrafi.
The institute called on citizens to continue regular child vaccination and catch-up vaccination to strengthen protection against measles.
