Kurti: We need a serious strategy for The Hague, but to implement it we need a president
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has also spoken about the issue of electing the president, linking it to the need for a state strategy regarding the developments in The Hague, as Telegrafi reports.
Kurti said that Kosovo needs a serious strategy to face the situation in The Hague, but according to him, to implement this strategy the country must have functional institutions, including the president.
“We need a serious strategy for The Hague, but to implement that strategy we need a president”, Kurti declared.
He stressed that, faced with what he considers an unjust situation in The Hague, Kosovo must be a strong state with consolidated institutions.
“We must also be clear about something else: for the unjust situation in The Hague we need to have a strong state. There must be law, but there must also be a president”, the prime minister said.
Kurti warned that approving a law related to The Hague, without functional institutional stability, could bring other consequences for the country.
“A law for The Hague without functional stability, without a president and with repeated elections risks instability in the country”, Kurti said.
In this context, the prime minister also mentioned his meetings with PDK leader Bedri Hamza, describing them as constructive.
Kurti announced that he will meet Hamza again, with the aim of reaching an agreement to overcome the political situation.
“I thank Bedri Hamza for the constructive meetings we have had and we will meet again today, because we must meet, agree and all move forward together”, Kurti declared.
