Kushner investment in the south, Rama: I informed von der Leyen, the “Transparency Mirror” opens within two days

Speaking at a joint press conference in Tirana with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, Prime Minister Edi Rama also spoke about Jared Kushner’s investment in the south of the country.

Rama said this issue had been discussed with von der Leyen, while announcing that within two or three days the “Transparency Mirror” will be published, where all the documents and the process related to the project will be made accessible.

“Let me state that I have informed the President of the Commission, both about the progress of the major investment project that has caused so much interest, to put no other word to it, where we are now at the stage of expecting soon the in-depth environmental study, but meanwhile also informing her about the steps we have taken toward a significant increase in transparency with the Albanian public and the government’s interaction with the public through the means of technology.

Tomorrow or the day after, we will switch on the mirror of full transparency of all the documents and the process, everything that is in black and white, of the much-discussed project.

We also spoke about the balance sheet of the major effort Albania is making in the fight against organized crime and corruption, which is a fixed point of our agenda and of the EU’s agenda, but also for the candidate countries in particular.

We noted with pleasure the fact that, if yesterday corruption was the system, today the system is fighting corruption,” Rama said.

The prime minister also spoke about the European integration process, confirming the government’s will to continue the work on closing the negotiation chapters.

“I confirm the iron will to push forward all the work of the process, which has now entered the phase of closing the chapters, the preparation to start with the closing of the chapters and then to continue intensively next year with a considerable part of our already opened chapters.

I want to say that I am very pleased that also in a special program, which is the Growth Plan program, we have managed to reach some extraordinarily ambitious objectives and, as I said, the President will surely speak about the Growth Plan, which is one of the novelties of her second mandate, a novelty that has come to the region as a great support, not simply in the financial aspect, but above all in the aspect of what is now called a gradual integration, without waiting for everything to come at the end of the process,” Rama said.
