Socialist MP: The SP protects no one who faces justice! The high number of detainees has horrified the Council of Europe

Socialist Party MP Erion Malaj says the Socialist Party does not support and does not protect anyone who faces justice. He also took as an example the case of the dismissed director of SHISH, Vlora Hyseni, for whom he said Prime Minister Rama dismissed her immediately from duty, after the security measures imposed at SPAK’s request against her.

Malaj also highlighted the opposition’s opposite stances, saying that until yesterday the DP attacked SPAK, while today, when senior SP officials are being hit, according to him, the DP demands accountability for it to act faster.

“The opposition used to call this institution, which today it trumpets to act, by another name. It called it SKAP. Today it has found its correct name, because it is hitting people who have been in state institutions. Responsibility is individual. Political responsibility is another thing, and in this concrete case too, the prime minister acted immediately by dismissing the person in question, who must face justice,” Malaj said, among other things.

He also added that every person or official must be presumed innocent until the moment their guilt is proven. According to him, the high number of detainees in Albania has alarmed the Council of Europe. He added that no public trial can be held against anyone who is under investigation.

“We have completely forgotten and have reached a point where we call guilty anyone who today is under investigation. Meanwhile, it is known worldwide that every individual, until the moment they are proven guilty, is presumed innocent. We have had this situation for years. I have said this situation also when it was about elements linked to, or part of, the opposition. I have said it also when it was about the leader of the opposition. That until the moment he is convicted, he is presumed innocent. So we must stand by this, otherwise we will make the same mistakes that were made in the past, something this majority cannot allow. And something else that is alarming is the number of detainees, which has horrified the Council of Europe. These are the results of these witch hunts that are made against certain individuals even when they are under investigation. So the other person is under investigation, they may turn out innocent. No public trial can be held against anyone who is under investigation. This is unfair,” Malaj added.

In conclusion, Malaj added that the responsibility of everyone investigated by SPAK is personal, since, according to him, it is not the institution that is under investigation.
