Lavrov: Europe is waging war against Russia

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has declared that European countries are waging a war against Russia, referring to the military support they provide to Ukraine. The statement was made on Tuesday in Moscow, on the sidelines of the Valdai forum.

Lavrov said the weapons supplied by European countries are being used against Russian forces and described that support as part of a war that, in his view, Europe is waging against Moscow.

He also rejected European accusations that Russian strikes on ships carrying Western weapons for Ukraine are part of a Russian “hybrid war”.

According to Lavrov, Russia’s use of force in Ukraine is linked to what Moscow considers a direct threat to its security. He argued that striking infrastructure used to support Ukraine militarily is, in the Kremlin’s view, a form of self-defence.

Lavrov’s statements come amid high tensions between Russia and European countries, which continue to support Ukraine with weapons and financial aid, while Moscow regards those measures as direct involvement in the conflict.
