Led by Vance, senior U.S. officials hold secret meeting on Iran and Yemen

Senior U.S. government officials responsible for national security held a secret meeting at the U.S. president’s summer residence at Camp David to discuss the next steps in the war against Iran and the Shiite Houthi rebels in Yemen, three U.S. officials told the news site Axios.

According to Axios, the meeting was chaired by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, who added that the Donald Trump administration did not announce this unusual meeting.

The last time a similar meeting was held was in June 2025, a few days before the war between Israel and Iran broke out, the website noted.

Among the officials who took part in the meeting were Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, White House envoy Steve Witkoff, CIA Director John Ratcliffe and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine.
