Obiliq mayor Halil Thaçi: I have been threatened with my life, the former director denies the accusations

The Mayor of the Municipality of Obiliq, Halil Thaçi, says he has been threatened with his life by the former Director of Inspection in this municipality, Hajrullah Preniqi, as KosovaPress reports today.

According to Thaçi, the reason for the threat is linked to his decision to move Preniqi from the post of Director of Inspection to that of Director of Emergencies, without lowering his salary. As KosovaPress reports, the mayor of Obiliq said Preniqi, through his people, sent him the message: “on Monday we will not leave you alive to come to the municipality.”

Thaçi confirms he has reported the case to the Police, but claims Preniqi has close ties with the prosecutor of the case, which according to him has slowed down the process of taking measures. He also claims the former director is a repeat offender of several criminal offences.

On the other hand, Hajrullah Preniqi categorically denies the accusations for KosovaPress: “It is not true. He can say whatever he wants, he can declare whatever he wants. He can go wherever he wants with those; from me there is nothing, he is not threatened…”

KosovaPress has also sent questions to the Kosovo Police regarding this case, but by the moment of publication had received no answer.
