“Live in 3,2,1…”: world premiere at Chapel Theatre — the comedy that brings 1950s live-TV chaos to the stage
A new comedy that takes audiences behind the cameras of early television will have its world premiere next month in Oregon. Tour de Force will present “Live in 3,2,1…” at Chapel Theatre in Milwaukie, with a preview performance on October 8 and shows running through October 24.
Set in an RCA studio at Rockefeller Center, the comedy follows a young television crew preparing to go live with the first dramatic episode of its broadcast. Plans get complicated with the arrival of a famous Hollywood director and three film stars, who are anything but ready for the unforgiving demands of live television.
The production combines stage comedy with multimedia elements and a live feed of the fictional broadcast: audiences simultaneously see what home viewers would see — and the off-camera blunders that happen behind the scenes, away from the camera’s eye.
The ensemble includes Matt Sunderland, Brandie Sylfae, Alexi Lewis, Tyler Hulegaard, Kristen Svenson, Todd A. Robinson, Morgan Voellger, Danny Walker, Maddy Gourlay and Rick Warren. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2:00 PM. Tickets cost $35, with Thursdays offering the “Arts for All” pay-what-you-can option. Due to the intimate size of the hall, seating is limited.
