Loznica Dairy Halts Milk Purchases — City of Loznica and Ministry Seek Solution

The City of Loznica, together with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, has immediately taken measures to find a solution and provide support to milk producers, after being informed that the Loznica Dairy has halted milk purchases, the City of Loznica announced. The issue was raised by the Mačva District Milk Producers Association.

According to the official announcement, more than 450 producers are affected by the Loznica Dairy’s decision, of whom 135 producers are from the territory of the city of Loznica. The City and the Ministry explain that neither has the legal competence to decide on the obligational-legal relations between private economic entities and producers regarding the signed contracts and claims for milk already delivered. However, given the importance of this issue, through joint action at the local and state level, activities were immediately launched and talks held with all affected producers, as well as with other buyers, to ensure the continuity of milk purchases.

As a concrete result of these talks, other buyers have been activated, including the Šabac Dairy and the Ub Dairy, which have taken on the purchase of milk from a portion of the producers whose purchases the Loznica Dairy halted. In this way, the continuation of purchases has already been secured for half of the producers from the territory of the City of Loznica, while intensive work is underway to secure a safe placement of milk for all other affected producers as soon as possible.
