Major Police Raids in Skopje, Tetovo and Gevgelija Smash Suspected Medicine-Smuggling Ring; Six Arrested

The Department for Combating Organised Crime is carrying out a major police operation against medicine smuggling, with raids on more than 10 locations in Skopje, Çair, Tetovo and Gevgelija.

The operation aims to dismantle a criminal group suspected of smuggling and illegally trading medicines, medicaments and food supplements, as well as corrupt offences.

The investigation covers suspicions of smuggling, illegal medicine trading, bribery and money laundering. So far 6 people have been arrested, while others are being sought; among the suspects are also employees of the Customs Directorate.

During the raids, police found thousands of euros in cash, reports iNFOMAX. The operation is still ongoing and new arrests are not ruled out.
