Manati in Lezhë ablaze, firefighters move to protect homes! Aerial intervention by helicopter

A massive fire has affected the mountainous area in Manati, near the old Lezhë–Milot road, since last night. The situation a day earlier was chaotic, as the danger also threatened the homes in the area.

The situation remains serious as the flames are still active, Klan News journalist Martin Marku reports. The strong wind has favoured the spread of the flames across the terrain, while the firefighting forces have been positioned near the homes, to prevent the fire from approaching.

Since 08:00, an aerial intervention by helicopter has also begun, in an effort to bring the fire hotspots under control.

Mayor Pjerin Ndreu has also reacted to the situation, appealing to citizens not to light fires, as the lack of rainfall has created conditions favouring them. Ndreu stresses that the damage that can come from carelessness or deliberately can escalate into a risk to homes and people’s lives.

It takes only a spark to cause a catastrophe!

Lighting fires in brush, fields, waste or open spaces, whether deliberately or through carelessness, can endanger homes, property and above all people’s lives.

We call on you: DO NOT LIGHT FIRES!

In these conditions, any irresponsibility can have very serious consequences. When flames spread quickly, intervention becomes extremely difficult and protecting homes a major challenge.

We ask for the cooperation and responsibility of every resident. Prevention is the best protection! A small carelessness can cause a major disaster. Let us protect together our people, our homes and our territory!
