Manchester City brace for sanctions as Europe’s giants target Haaland

There is still no official communication, but Manchester City has been found guilty of 114 out of 115 charges in total for financial irregularities according to what The Athletic published, and this could bring a severe sanction ranging from a hefty financial fine to a heavy points deduction that would relegate the Citizens to the Championship and even expel them from the Premier League.

If there are sanctions for Manchester City, Europe’s biggest clubs would turn their eyes to the team’s star, Erling Haaland.

Every media outlet has raised the question of what will happen to the Norwegian if Manchester City were to fall into the second tier of English football, but although there is nothing concrete at this moment, everything indicates that Haaland would be a concrete market opportunity for the giants of the Old Continent, including Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Even though Haaland has signed a long-term contract with the Citizens until 2016 and knowing that there is no release clause, it is clear that if Manchester City were to leave the Premier League he would be the major objective of teams that can afford big spending.
