Mazonakis death investigation: nine people in the clinic during plasmapheresis — new testimonies and the Medical Association’s hidden reports

The investigation into the death of singer Giorgos Mazonakis is taking ever more shocking dimensions, as new testimonies that have come to light describe a scene completely different from what had been claimed so far. According to Newsit, around nine people were inside the clinic on Karneadou Street at the moment Mazonakis was undergoing plasmapheresis — among them the doctors’ daughter, who was the one to call EKAB to transport the singer to the “Elpis” hospital.

After the ambulance left the clinic, the 58-year-old doctor — who until now claimed to know nothing until his wife called him — told those present, according to the testimonies: “Mazones is dead, and we are all jointly responsible.” The statement, which is being investigated by the authorities, completely upends the initial version of events.

A nurse told investigators that the doctor had initially presented the plasmapheresis machine to the staff as a “detox” machine, never explaining its real function. Over time, he became obsessed with the Inus device, cancelled other appointments and performed treatments even on weekends, sometimes completely alone — details that raise serious questions about how the clinic operated.

Meanwhile, the couple’s second practice on Patriarchou Ioakim, as Newsit reports, housed psychotherapy, seminars, hypnotherapy, massages and even an illegal sauna — which has now been removed. Also made public were two 2025 inspection reports of the Athens Medical Association (dated 25/07 and 05/11): the plasmapheresis machines were hidden during inspections and falsely declared as “ozonotherapy” equipment.

The investigator has ordered the lifting of confidentiality of the phone records of the two imprisoned doctors and the clinic staff, while the couple’s second meeting inside Korydallos prison lasted 2 hours. Toxicology results are still awaited, while the family’s lawyer already speaks of false witnesses — a development promising new twists in the coming days.
