Mickoski: North Macedonia’s inflation below the European average, stable trend expected
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said today, answering journalists’ questions, that inflation in North Macedonia is below the European average and that a stable trend is expected in the coming period, as Centar.mk writes.
According to him, inflation stood at 2.3% in July and 2.6% in August in the country, compared with 2.9% in July and 3.2% in August in Europe.
Mickoski recalled that four years ago, during the energy crisis, the much higher domestic inflation was justified with “imported inflation” — “we showed that this was not true; they were false campaigns.”
September data has not been published yet — it is published by the State Statistical Office; through the State Market Inspectorate, the government preliminarily estimates that food and non-alcoholic beverage prices are 1.5–2% higher than a year ago.
