Milan vs Benfica: Gonçalo Ramos — ‘If I score, I won’t celebrate’
“For me, Benfica is like home. Maybe I’ve spent more time with them than with my family. If I score, I won’t celebrate, but I still really want to score.” These were the words of Gonçalo Ramos, who at a press conference previewed the match against the Portuguese side — Milan’s first Europa League game.
“How do I expect the stadium to be? It’s always special to play at home. I’ve been here for a short time, so I haven’t played much at San Siro. It will be a difficult match, but playing at home means having the support of our fans. And that is important for us.”
“How can I help the team? The focus should not be on me and whether I score a lot or not, but I believe the most important thing is always the team’s victory. I think if we all run hard and work hard, with intelligence and as a team, we can achieve something big this season. We are building an excellent understanding and over time we will only improve. And then, without doubt, my goals, my assists, the team’s goals and victories will start to come. I think that is the most important thing.”
On criticism — “There is always the idea that a striker must always score, but it’s not always like that. Maybe I can play well without scoring. Every match is an opportunity to prove my worth.”
