Minister Demo visits IdentiTek: identity document fees to be lowered for categories in need
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has begun work on lowering identity document fees for certain categories of citizens who need support the most.
During a visit to the IdentiTek premises, Interior Minister Ervin Demo was briefed up close on the process of producing and issuing identity documents, while stressing the need for the improvement of services to be accompanied by lower costs for citizens.
“We have begun work on lowering identity document fees for certain categories that need support the most,” Demo said.
In parallel with the review of fees, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and IdentiTek are working to simplify and speed up the procedures for obtaining identity documents.
According to the minister, the usual procedure for obtaining a document is completed within 10 working days, while the accelerated service within 3 working days.
Also in focus is the expansion of online services. Citizens can carry out several procedures via the internet, including buying the coupon and tracking the document.
“We have a clear priority: faster, simpler service, closer to the citizen. More online services, respect for deadlines, service at home or in hospital for citizens with mobility difficulties, and more opportunities for compatriots who live far from consular services,” Demo said.
Another service that is intended to be expanded is the delivery of documents at home or in hospital for citizens with mobility difficulties, both inside the country and abroad.
Minister Demo also announced that work will continue to increase services for Albanians living abroad. For this purpose, special missions are envisaged in areas where there is a concentration of the Albanian community but no consular services are offered.
Meanwhile, in cooperation with AKSHI and AKSK, work is under way on developing the Digital ID Card, as well as the passport technology of the future, with the aim of meeting the standards of 2030.
Minister Demo said that every change in identity document services must have a direct impact on the citizen.
“Every improvement we make here must translate into something concrete for the citizen: less time, less cost and more service,” Demo said.
The new measures aim to reduce the time and costs for citizens, as well as to increase access to identity document services for the categories that need support the most.
