Mitaj finally gets his chance: Genoa reaches the Coppa Italia round of 16 — Inter awaits

After a seemingly endless string of bench appearances in the league, Mario Mitaj finally stepped onto the pitch in a Genoa shirt.

The Albanian national team defender was picked to start in the match against Südtirol, played at the Ferraris, in the round of 32 of the Coppa Italia.

Mario Mitaj stayed on the pitch for 61 minutes, putting in a good performance before being replaced by striker Colombo.

Genoa went on to win the match 1-0, their second success of the season, thus booking their ticket to the round of 16 of the competition. The man who decided the match was Vázquez, who scored in the 87th minute.

Mitaj and Genoa’s next opponent will be none other than Inter, the Italian champions and reigning winners of the competition.
