The Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Army, Milan Mojsilovic, met today in Belgrade with the outgoing KFOR commander, Major General Ozkan Ulutas, as the newspaper Danas reports, citing the statement of Serbia’s Ministry of Defence.
During the meeting, Mojsilovic described the security situation in Kosovo as “sensitive”, stressing that Serbs in Kosovo do not feel safe, according to Danas’s reporting.
He stressed that KFOR, as the only legitimised armed formation, has the obligation to ensure a calm and safe environment and to protect above all Serbs, as well as Serbian religious, cultural and historical heritage.
The meeting also discussed cooperation between the Serbian Army and KFOR on preserving peace, with a review of the results and challenges of the Turkish general’s one-year mandate at the head of the mission.
Major General Ulutas will be replaced in mid-October by Italian Major General Roberto Vergori, who will take command of KFOR.
