Monstat: 1.13 million tourist overnight stays in August — 264 thousand arrivals in collective accommodation

In August, collective accommodation in Montenegro recorded 264.48 thousand arrivals and 1.13 million tourist overnight stays, according to Monstat’s preliminary data, as Dan reports. The news was also reflected in RTCG’s reporting, confirming August as the peak month of the summer tourist season.

Of the total number of overnight stays, 91.4 percent were by foreign tourists, while only 8.6 percent were domestic — a clear indicator of the great weight foreign visitors carry in Montenegrin tourism.

In the structure of overnight stays by type of tourist resort, coastal resorts lead with 92.1 percent, followed by the capital with 3.6 percent, mountain resorts with 2.8 percent and other tourist places with 1.5 percent.

Collective accommodation, under Monstat’s classification, includes hotels, guesthouses, motels, tourist villages, resorts and camps — but not private accommodation, which remains outside this statistic.
