‘The shame belongs to those who filmed! Before you judge…’ – Eli Fara reacts for the first time to the intimate videos

Following the publication of her intimate videos on social media and the huge stir it caused across public opinion, singer Eli Fara has reacted.

In her statement she says she does not feel ashamed, and that those who distributed and published those images are the ones who should feel that way.

“I am experiencing a pain I would not wish on any woman: the violation of my privacy and facing judgements and insults that also affect my family,” she writes.

The artist raises concern about the way women face society’s judgements, stressing that they are often asked to carry on their shoulders even the shame of acts committed against them.

“They violate their privacy and then ask them to account for it. They hurt them and then judge them for the way they cope with the pain. No woman should go through this humiliation,” she says.

She goes on to say she will leave this matter to the justice system, and calls on the public for “humanity” and to stop sharing material that can deepen the pain of a person and their family.

“Before any judgement, think of the person and the family you are hurting,” she writes.

At the end of her reaction, the artist thanks her family, friends, colleagues and all those who have supported her publicly or privately, stressing that their love and understanding give her the strength to move forward “with dignity and with her head held high”.
