Montenegro beats Serbia 20:19 in Ohrid with a last-second goal — Serbian women end the tournament winless

True drama in Ohrid: the Montenegro women’s national handball team beat Serbia 20:19 in the final match of the “Macedonia Trophy” tournament, with the decisive goal by Mela Mehmedović coming with the final siren. The tournament was the last preparation test before the women’s European Handball Championship, EHF EURO 2026, to be played from December 3 to 20 in Poland, Romania, Czechia, Slovakia and Turkey.
Montenegro had the game under control for a long time: the first half closed 13:10 for the Montenegrins, and in the 41st minute they were leading convincingly 18:11. Then came the big turnaround — Serbia made an impressive 8:0 run and overturned the score to 19:18 in the 57th minute. Nikolina Marković equalized at 19:19, and with only 3 seconds left Montenegro got the final attack. After the time-out called by coach Suzana Lazović, Mehmedović scored from a difficult position together with the siren — 20:19.
For Montenegro, Jelena Vukčević stood out with 7 goals and Ivana Savić with 5. For Serbia the best was Milosavljević with 7 goals, followed by Otašević and Radević with 3 each, while goalkeeper Simić registered 7 saves, all in the second half.
With this win, Montenegro closed the tournament with 2 wins and 1 draw, having drawn 20:20 with Croatia and beaten North Macedonia. Serbia, on the other hand, finished the tournament without a single win — besides the loss to Montenegro, the Serbian women also lost to Croatia 28:15 and to North Macedonia 29:21, according to Sportske vesti.
