Mucunski: Skopje seeks a predictable solution with Bulgaria on the EU path; no conditions yet for constitutional changes
North Macedonia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Timco Mucunski, said on Sunday that Skopje wants to find a solution to the dispute with Bulgaria that would give the country predictability in the European integration process, as the MIA news agency reports.
According to the top diplomat, there is willingness from European institutions and several EU member states to help open space for discussion, but Skopje’s position is clear: there are currently no conditions for constitutional amendments because of Bulgaria’s stance.
The statement comes at a time when the country’s European integration remains blocked by Bulgaria’s demand for the recognition of the Bulgarian minority in the Constitution, while Skopje seeks guarantees that no new conditions will follow after the amendments.
