“Musical Con” unveils the full programme for its fifth edition: Broadway and West End stars gather in London

The UK’s biggest musical theatre fan convention, “Musical Con,” has unveiled the full programme for its fifth anniversary edition, which will be held at ExCeL London this October — as BroadwayWorld reports. The weekend will bring together Broadway and West End stars, with performances, reunions, workshops, masterclasses and exclusive panels for thousands of fans.

One of the highlights will be the reunion of original Broadway stars Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal — the first Mark Cohen and Roger Davis — for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of “Rent.” The pair will perform live on the main stage and share stories from Jonathan Larson’s legendary musical, three decades after it arrived on Broadway.

The programme also includes a “Beetlejuice Spotlight” with West End stars David Hunter, Chelsea Halfpenny, Hannah Norberg and Tom Xander, alongside Tony nominee Kerry Butler — who originated the role of Barbara Maitland on Broadway. Olivier winner Layton Williams will have an “Artist Spotlight” dedicated to his career, from “Billy Elliot” to the role of Herod in “Jesus Christ Superstar.”

The main stage will also feature a focus on “Death Note The Musical,” which returns to the Barbican next year, as well as exclusive looks at new shows aiming for the West End, including “Mona Loser,” “Ceilidh” and a reimagining of “FAME!” Fans will also find cast reunions — “Starlight Express” stars Jeevan Braich and Jade Marvin will reunite with colleagues — the cosplay contest, the “Show Off” quiz and a collective musical theatre sing-along.

“Five years ago we created Musical Con to give musical theatre fans a place that is entirely their own, and this anniversary edition celebrates everything we love about this community,” say co-founders Shanay Holmes and Chris Steward.
