Nations League, League C/ Albania takes first place in Group 1, wins 3-0 in San Marino
In Serravalle, at the “San Marino Stadium”, Albania beat the home side 3-0 thanks to a game dominated from the opening minutes.
As expected, Maran had fielded an attacking team, with names such as Muçi, Mehmeti, Manaj and Uzuni in the advanced department. Asllani and Shehu were helped in midfield by the wing-backs to keep the red-and-blacks on top, who managed to secure their second win in as many matches in this edition of the Nations League.
The goal that broke the deadlock came in the 21st minute thanks to Anis Mehmeti, who scored his first goal in the red-and-black shirt. After that episode, only six minutes of play passed before Manaj also found the safety net for Maran’s men.
In the second fraction, San Marino started the game somewhat better, trying to find the goal of hope, but Sherri was ready when the team needed him. In the 58th minute, the goalkeeper managed to stop a surprise shot by Capicchioni.
As the minutes passed, the red-and-blacks regained control of the ball and immediately found the third goal as well. In the 65th minute, Manaj found the third goal of the match after a double error by the home goalkeeper and defenders as they tried to clear the ball from the area following a corner kick that came precisely from the Lushnja striker’s insistence.
In the remaining minutes, Maran took the opportunity to give first minutes in the red-and-black shirt to two promising players, Samuele Sina and Klevi Qefalija.
With these three points, Albania climbs to first place in Group 1 of League C of the Nations League. The red-and-blacks have collected six points, followed by Finland with 4, Belarus with 1 and San Marino with zero points. A.V.
