Niall Sheehy joins “Him” at London’s Union Theatre: he takes the role of Charlie
London theatre actor Niall Sheehy will join the cast of the play “Him” at London’s Union Theatre, where he will perform the role of Charlie, as BroadwayWorld reports. Sheehy replaces Dan Furlonger, who had previously been announced for this role but withdrew from the production due to a scheduling conflict.
Written by Natalie Ekberg and directed by Simon Fielding, the play will run from October 19 to 30, 2026. Alongside Sheehy, the stage will feature Hannah Chalmers as Jane, Alan P. Jones as Kit, Gary Tushaw as Osmond and Julie Wood as Nana.
The play tells the story of Jane, who unexpectedly becomes pregnant with Charlie’s child and agrees that he will raise the child with his new partner, Osmond. But their arrangement, described by BroadwayWorld as darkly funny, emotionally charged and painfully honest, begins to crack under the weight of hidden doubts, unspoken anger and divided loyalty. The play explores the fragile truths and lies we build to protect ourselves and the people we love — an intimate and morally complex story about a contemporary LGBTQ+ family and the consequences of the decisions we make for those we love.
Sheehy was most recently seen in the UK tour of “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical”. His credits include the role of Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny, in “Love Never Dies” during the Asian tour, Feuilly in “Les Misérables” in the West End and Barrett in “Titanic the Musical” in the West End and on the international tour.
The Union Theatre is located at Old Union Yard Arches, 229 Union Street in Southwark, London — an independent stage known for bold Off-West End productions.
