NSPM poll for the October 25 elections: Student List 44.4%, ‘United Serbia’ 41.7%

The researcher of the organization “Nova srpska politička misli” (NSPM), Đorđe Vukadinović, stated today for television N1 that the September public opinion poll shows that Serbia is entering a “referendum atmosphere” on the eve of the early parliamentary elections of October 25 — as the portal Danas reports, citing television N1.

According to the poll data, the Student List “Students Win” leads with 44.4% of the votes, while “United Serbia” — the list of the SNS coalition headed by president Aleksandar Vučić — stands at 41.7%. Both lists have grown and have passed the 40% threshold: in the previous measurement the student list was at 39.6% and “United Serbia” at 37.5%, while this time the students’ growth was slightly more pronounced, according to Vukadinović.

“There are only two actors who have reason to be satisfied — the ruling party and the students — and almost nobody else,” Vukadinović is quoted by N1. According to him, the “referendum atmosphere” puts all other actors at risk: both the satellites close to the government, and the opposition that runs alone in the elections, among which Novi DSS and European Serbia; while the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), he emphasized, has problems, but small ones for the moment.

The poll was carried out at the beginning of September — that is, before the collection of signatures and the queues for support for the students, before the submission of signatures, before the withdrawal of “Narodna Srbija” — the coalition of Eco Uprising, the People’s Movement of Serbia and New Serbia — from running alone, as well as before the split within Branislav Nestorović’s “Mi – snaga naroda” movement — and during the process of Branko Ružić’s exclusion from the SPS.

At that moment, the names of the student list had been published and rector Vladan Đokić and professor Milo Lompar had been verified (vetted), Vukadinović explained for N1, emphasizing that all these factors may have changed the percentages again since the September poll.
