Customs finds over 13,000 euros undeclared on a driver in Hani i Elezit: he had said he had nothing to declare
Officers of the Anti-Smuggling Sector of Kosovo Customs at the Hani i Elezit Border Crossing Point selected for inspection a Skoda Superb vehicle with North Macedonian plates, driven by a citizen of that country, as Gazeta Express reports.
Asked whether he had anything to declare to Customs, the driver answered that he had “nothing to declare”.
During the detailed second-line inspection, Customs officers discovered 11,980 euros and 84,500 Macedonian denars, which were hidden and had not been declared in accordance with the legislation in force. The total value of the undeclared money, after conversion into euros, is 13,353.98 euros. The money was confiscated, the Kosovo Customs announcement, quoted by Gazeta Express, says.
Kosovo Customs recalls that, according to Article 33, paragraph 1, of Law No. 05/L-096 on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Combating Terrorist Financing, every person entering or leaving Kosovo who carries money worth 10,000 euros or more, or the equivalent in other currencies, must declare it to Kosovo Customs.
